Customs Clearance

Remote Location Filing (RLF) - While JK is based in California, our broker has the national permit which qualifies us for RLF, giving us the ability to transmit eligible types of entry from any location, regardless of port of entry. â€‹

Consumption Entry - If the imported goods are going directly into the commerce of the US, a consumption entry is required. About 95% of entries are consumption entry and it may either be formal or informal.

Formal Entry - This is designed for goods valued at more than $2,500. We clear freight at all ocean ports, airports, and border ports.

Informal Entry - This type of entry involves the importation of goods that does not exceed $2,500 in value. Informal Entries are liquidated at the time of release but keep in mind that certain commodities cannot use Informal Entry regardless of their value.

Temporary Importation under Bond (TIB) - A TIB is used for goods entering the US temporarily with the intent to be exported or destroyed. Restrictions apply.

ATA Carnet - also known as "Merchandise Passport", this is an international customs document for duty free and temporary entry of goods into foreign countries for up to one year of issuance.

Immediate Transportation (IT) - when merchandise arrives at first US port with another port as the final destination (the declared port of entry), an IT entry is needed to move the cargo under bond.

Transportation & Exportation Entry (T&E) - this type entry allows merchandise to be transported under Customs Bond from one US port to a second port for export to a third country. T&Es are not considered "imported" into the US.
